Irregular Periods
Ladies, you are unique, including your periods. Some may happen like clockwork. Others may be unpredictable. On average, women get their periods every 24 to 38 days. A period usually lasts about 2 to 8 days. Some variability in the menstrual cycle is normal, especially when periods are just beginning to happen (menarche), are coming to an end (perimenopause), after pregnancy, and after stopping or starting hormonal birth control.

However, in cases other than these, irregular cycles can be caused by many factors related to your behavior, lifestyle, and environment. They can also be a sign of a health condition that is affecting your hormonal balance or the structure of your reproductive tract.
In general, a cycle is considered irregular when most of the cycles in the previous six months have been out of range.
Some common causes for irregular cycles:
- Post- Pregnancy or Breastfeeding
- Stress
- Birth control pills
- PCOS
- Too much exercise
- Thyroid disorders
- Uterine fibroids and polyps
